Women’s Institute Mrs Jones presided over a good | attendance at the meeting ot tire | Washdyke Women’s Institute. There was a keen discussion upon the question I of the amalgamation of the Women’s i Institutes and Women's Divisions. i A parcel of clothing was collected for I the Polish children. Mrs G. King won a guessing game and Mrs Hansen won the wandering shilling. Miss M. Conaghan won the euchre competition. Competitions resulted: Soldier's socks. Mrs Darling 1, Miss I King 2. Mrs J. King 3. Plum sauce. Mrs Jones 1, Mrs J. King 2. Miss I. / King 3. Premier bloom, single, Mrs Browne; cluster, Miss I. King. Hall Renovation At a well-attended public meeting of Vashdyke residents, convened by the Hall Committee, Mr P. Applegarth, who presided, explained that the meeting had been called to consider raising funds for painting and doing other necessary work in connection with the hall. Offers had been received by the committee to rent the hall for a considerable period but they did not appeal to the majority of those present. It was decided that the residents be asked for donations to the fund. Messrs A. Goodman. J. Peebles. J. Goulding and D. Kellahan were authorised to do the collecting.
