Bill Rejected COLOMBO. July 13. The Ceylon State Council, by 31 votes to seven, protested against the rejection of the "Sri Lanka" Bill by the Secretary of State for the Colonies iMr Oliver Stanley The Council had passed the Bill, which demanded self-government, including control of internal defence and shipping. ' , . The protest described Mr Stanley s rejection of the Bill as a denial of the rights of the people of Ceylon to freedom and to the determination of their own czn-titution. "Sri Lanka is an old Sinhalese name for Ceylon.
