GERALDINE HOME FROM GERMANY
Former Prisoners Of War Met At Orari Two, men. who have been prisoners of war in Germany and Italy, were met and welcomed at Orari railway station yesterday morning. They were Privates E. J. Bateman, whose father is Mr F. J. Bateman, and Private A. W Allan, whose aunt. Mrs M. E. Smart, of Main South Road, Geraldine, is next-of-kin. The official welcoming - party included the Mayor <Mr D. C. McKechnie). Mr P. G. Withers (R.S.A. and patriotic organisations). Mrs P. W Hislop (Red Cross), Mr Stanley Ashby • deputy chairman) and Mr L. M. Brown (secretary. Arundel-Peel Forest Patriotic Committee). Twenty Degrees Of Frost A record frost of 20 degrees was recorded at Geraldine yesterday morning by Mr A. J. Blakiston. Raukapuka. Water Rationed tremendous draw-off of water has taken place in the Geraldine Borough as a result of a large number of burst pipes, and the borough fort-man •Mr J. D.
