Dominion Conference (N.Z.P.A.I WELLINGTON, July 19. The election of officers at the annual conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union to-day resulted: Dominion president, Mr W. W. Mulholland >Darfieldl; vice-president overseas. Colonel F. Waite; vice-presidents. Messrs A. Brincoe Moore iWhangareii and K. J. Holyoake, M.P. ' Dannevirke >; Dominion treasurer, Mr W. Horrobin iWaikanao: past president. Mr W. J. Polson (Stratford). All were re-elected unopposed, Mr Mulholland for his tenth term. The conference decided to draw the Government's attention to inflation caused by the use of credits created through the Reserve Bank. Another remit which was adopted recorded that the conference viewed with alarm the departure from stabilisation. It instanced several increases without any corresponding and immediate mcresse in the monetary return to primary producers, and urged that steps be taken forthwith to increase meat and other produce prices to counteract those increased costs. It was pointed out that the Government could not expect the maximum production unless the primary producers were assured of a reasonable return. If an appointment can be arranged, all the delegates of the conference will wait noon the Government as a deputation to put forward the Union's views on stabilisation, the census, the country quota, the Bank of New Zealand proposals and hospital rating. This decision was made to-day by the conference. Mr K. J. Holyoake. convener of the committee which considered the proposal. said it recommended that the deputation should offer the full support of farmers to implement stabilisation while demanding that farmers' prices should be raised to meet increased costs, and also give an undertaking that farmers would stand by stabilisation at the new level.
