Rehearing Of Appeals 1F.0.P.R.> WELLINGTON, July 19. “I stand for every man who will outlaw war whether the other side brands him a genuine conchy, military defaulter or shirker,” said the Hon. M. Briggs (Wellington) in the Legislative Council to-day. “I have had every name in the English dictionary put on me, but it did not make any difference to me, and it. does not make any difference to the principle for which every man in those camps stands.” The rehearing of conscientious objectors’ appeals would not put right the wrongs that had been done, said Mr Briggs—the most capable objectors would get, off but that was not to say (he most honest would. Representatives of 45 nations had met. to devise ways to bring about peace on earth and good will toward men. so surely it was not right to keen behind barbed wire men whose only offence had been to retuse to kl 1 ! their follow-men.
