“AMAZING TOTAL”

Red Cross-St. John Fund (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 30. It is announced that the Duke of Gloucester’s Red Cross and St. John Fund, which collected £50.000.000 from the outbreak of V-E Day, will close on June 30. • This total included £5,000.000 from overseas. It is recalled that collections during the last war for the same fund totalled £15.000.000. The Duke of Gloucester cabled Lord Uiffe, chairman of the appeal, thanking the British public for their generosity, and expressing his delight that the Fund had reached such an amazing total. Mrs Churchill's Red Cross Aid to Russia Fund will continue to function. Its total is more than £7,000,000, and is included in the erand total of the Duke of Gloucester’s Fund.
