GERALDINE WOMEN’S DIVISION

Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Geraldine branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the Town Hall. The annual report, detailing the activities of the year, and the balance•sheet, disclosing a satisfactory credit, were adopted. Mrs Murdock was elected a new member. It was decided to give the library books to Te Kiteroa and to military camps. Officers elected were: President, Mrs R. A. Bruce; acting-secretary, Mrs F. Tavener; treasurer, Mrs Scotney; vice-presidents, Mesdames Parr and F. Tavener; housekeeper committee, Mesdames Bruce, Dixon and W. Watson; committee, Miss J. McLean, Miss J. Walker, Miss E. McLean, Mesdames Sadler, Hill, Womer, and McColl. Mrs Sadler gave a prize fox- shrubs, Mrs Taverner one for spikes of flowers, and Mrs Dixon one for dahlias. These will be competed for during the coming year. Winners of competitions were: Aggregate, Mrs Sadler 1, Mrs Stock 2, Mrs C. McKenzie 3. District Band A decision to give £lO to the local patriotic committee was made at a meeting of the Geraldine Band Management Committee. Mr W. A. Sherratt presided. It was reported that because of the loss of members during the war, it had been difficult for the band to carry on. It was decided to make an effort to start a junior band immediately and to give free tuition to young players wishing to join. The resignation of Mi - L. Bennington from the Management Committee, was received with regret, and a hope was expressed that his health would improve with rest. Football The following will represent the Geraldine Football Club in a friendly game with a team from the Orarl Army harvest camp to-morrow: D. Pierce, J. Waller, G. Metcalf, O. Neutze, I. Henderson, J. Stevenson, J. South, H. South, E. Leary, D. Blissett, B. Riddell, R. Brenton, R. Gibson, Trevor Greenall, Tom Greenall.
