President’s Nomination Rejected

WASHINGTON, Jan. 26. The Commerce Committee of the U.S. Senate, by 14 votes to five rejected President Roosevelt's nomination of Mr Henry Wallace as Secretary of Commerce. The committee approved the measure to separate the Reconstruction Finance Corporation from the other Government lending agencies of the Commerce Department. The chairman (Senator J. W. Bailey) said that Mr Wallace’s nomination would be reported unfavourably to the Senate oil Monday.
