ALLEGED BREACH
Economic Stabilisation Regulations (N.Z.P.A.) WANGANUI, Jan. 29. Interesting points of law in connection with the Economic Stabilisation Emergency Regulations, 1942, were argued before Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Marstrate’s Court to-day, when J. J. McCaskey and Son, Ltd., clothing manufacturers, who began operations in Wanganui last year, were charged that, on or about August 8 last, they employed Ngaire Moore, a machinist, aged 17, and pal ’. her a weekly wage of £3/10/-, of which £l/18/1 was in excess of what should have been paid under the regulations. The company was represented by Mr D. W. Virtue (Wellington), and pleaded not guilty. After hearing the submissions, the Magistrate reserved his decision. It was the first case of its kind to come before the Court in New Zealand.
