RANGITATA
School Break-up In spite of unsettled weather a large crowd of parents and friends spent a happy afternoon at the annual breakup and presentation of prizes at the Rangitata Station School. Games and races and the distribution of ice creams occupied the earlier part of the proceedings, after which everyone adjourned to the schoolroom to be entertained by the pupils. This was followed by the presentation of prizes. Before calling on Mr C. H. Moss to present the prizes, the chairman (Mr Geo. Edgar), thanked the teacher, Miss L. Stevenson, for the interest she had taken in the pupils and the school generally since she had taken the position in May. The concert programme included: Recitations, Maori songs and Christmas carols and nursery rhymes by the infants, three plays entitled “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party,” “Uncle Rodger Hangs a Picture,” “The Physician Boils an Egg,” and a skipping dance by Nancy Edgar.
