BOROVANSKY BALLET

BRILLIANT ARTISTS An outstanding J. C. Williamson attraction will be the appearance at the Theatre Royal early in the New Year of the Borovansky ballet of 40 artists, which is enjoying a series of triumphs throughout New Zealand. That it has been possible to bring to New Zealand, in time of war, a season of ballet based on Russian tradition, is an achievement of which the management is proud. The company was brought over the Tasman from Sydney bv seaplanes, and this in itself creates a world’s record in ballet history. It has been only on rare occasions, and at long intervals, that the stage in New Zealand has been able to enjoy ballet as it is seen in London and New York, and playgoers and others are appreciating the ballet as being a contribution to the cultural life and artistic development of the youth of this country. The opening proeramine on Monday, January 8, will include “Les Sylphides,” Facade.” "Sigrid,” and fantasy on Greig’s concerto in A Minor, and the final programme on Tuesday afternoon and evening includes “The Swan Lake.” “En Saga,” “Sea Legend” and “L’Amour Ridicule.” The box plans will be opened at Beg .'s on Thursday, January 4.
