TRIPP SETTLEMENT SCHOOL CONCERT
Prizes Presented The annual concert and prize-giving was held in the Tripp School in the presence of a large gathering. Visitors were present from Geraldine, Orari Bridge, and Woodbury. After the proceedings had been opened by the chairman (Mr S. J. Neutze) the following items were given by the pupils:—Songs, “Marching Thru' Georgia,” ‘'Minstrel Boy,” “The Climate,” seniors; action song, “Ten Little Nigger Boys,” juniors; choral verse-speaking, juniors; “Dwarfs’ Marching Songs,” Std. 2; duet, “Keys of Heaven,” S. Wright and L. McLeod; rhythmic dance, juniors; song and dance, “The Sleeping Princess"; pirate platy, all; finale, “There’ll Always Be New Zealand.”
Songs were also contributed by Messrs G. Adams, P. McLeod and Master W. Harris (Geraldine) and recitations by Mrs F. Pratt, Miss M. Harris (Geraldine), Mr F. J. Thatcher, and Masters H. and R. Tripp. At the conclusion of the concert the chairman congratulated the teacher (Miss M. C. Lyons) on the high standard of the pupils’ items and on the excellent work done by the children during the year. After the presentation of prizes, supper was served. Personal ’ Miss Stringfellow, Geraldine, is spending a holiday at the Schoolhouse. Miss Eveline Adamson, Cave, has returned to her home for the Christmas vacation. Trooper L. G. Waller is spending Christmas with his parents, Mr and Mrs G. Waller. Major and Mrs C. H. Tripp and family, Timaru, have arrived at Orari Gorge Station for the Christmas holidays.
