POSTER COMPETITION

Awards Announced Owing to many distractions at this time of the year, the entries for the poster competition sponsored by the Free Kindergarten Association, were disappointing in number—only 20 being forwarded, but'what they lacked in quantity they made up in quality. Mr F. H. Merrie, who acted as judge, expressed the opinion that there were some remarkably good efforts showing much talent. Many of the entrants endeavoured to include too much, thus detracting from the advertising value. In poster work space was essential and some competitors appreciated this to a striking degree. The entrant who gained third place had done excellent figure drawing and would have secured a higher placing had she condensed her lettering. » The following points were awarded: R. Hancock, Std. V. Waimataitai, 20 points, L. Hancock, Form 3, G.H.S., 17* points, Mary Young, Std. IV. Main School 17 points, M. Blakeley Std. IV. Main School 12 points, Alison Bennett, Std. IV Main School 12 points, R. Hancock won the prize of 10/-.
