(7 30 p.m.i LONDON. Oct. 2. While standing near the House of Commons recently. Ordinary Seaman J. D. Freeman, of Wellington, saw Mt Churchill drive past in his ear toward the entrance to the House of Commons. Freeman immediately gave the V sign, and Mr Churchill, seeing him. waved a cheery answer with his cigar. To his astonishment, a detective came up to Freeman shortly after and presented him with the cigar butt which the Prime Minister had been smoking only a few minutes previously. Mr Churchill had Instructed the detective to give it to the New Zealander, who had waved the V sign. Freeman was delighted, and deciares that he is going to “frame” the butt.
