VICTORY LOAN

Need For Intensive Effort South Canterbury Quota “With D Day plus 18 having passed for the Victory Loan drive, there is need for one and all to co-operate in the most intensive selling campaign yet built up in South Canterbury, if we are to raise our objective of £841.000,’’ said the district National War Savings organiser (Mr J. H. Jones) yesterday. “Throughout the district,’’ he continued, “National Savings organisers, postmasters, chairmen and committees, assisted by many other organisations are being mobilised to carry the appeal for funds directly to every business institution, into the homes, the factories, shops, workshops, and to every individual that can be reached.

“The Victory Loan is a challenge which we must not fail to meet, if we are to keep faith with the Fighting Forces. The raising of such an immense sum just over a year after the last loan makes the work of organisers and all connected with them a progressively tougher job and it is, therefore, necessary to find additional sources of funds both by seeking out new investors and by encouraging larger subscriptions from old investors w’ho can be relied upon to save more. “There is no slacking or complacency by our fighting men overseas and there should be none on the part of the people of South Canterbury, who are having a much easier time,Mr Jones claimed. “It is the task of all connected with the Victory Loan to awaken the people anew to the grave urgency of the situation, in which support and ultimate success will be assured.”
