RICCARTON NOTES
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12. The horses owned by Mr D. Grant, of South Canterbury, have for a few years been trained by D. Cotton at Riccarton, but a change has taken place, the horses being sent back to their owner this week. The team that Cotton had in his stable when the breach occurred consisted of Botany. Denary, their unnamed two-year-old brother, Hunting Charm and Pallid. The Raker, Bridgehead and Hearth are due to go north to-night to race at Trentham. while three other Otago horses. Silver Lily, Compeer and Money Bird are booked to travel to-morrow night. C. G. Humphries will take Gulf Stream north to-morrow night. He has not been in work long, having had a rest since he raced at Trentham :n October.
F. D. Jones has Scottish Dale as his only candidate for the first day at Trentham and she is very well. He will also take the three-year-old, Trueway, who will be raced on the second day. Judged on his form at Wlngatui last Saturday, Jones expects the brother to Representative to run well. A. Stove has kept Authentic and All Night in work since they returned home from the West Coast, where both raced well. All Night has been sharpened up by his racing, while Authentic is an improver. They are engaged on the second day at Trentham and Stove intends to take them north next week.
