INGENIOUS SCHEME
TAXI DRIVER “ ROBBED ” (N.Z.P.A.) DANNEVIRKE. Jan. 28. A Maori taxi-driver recently reported to the police that he had been assaulted and robbed by two men who engaged him and allegedly knocked him unconscious. Later the complainant, Hirai Martin Rahtahi. was charged with fraudulently omitting to account for £5O to his employer.
Accused pleaded guilty, restitution Cf the full amount having been made, and was fined £3O, in default one month’s imprisomnen t.
