FACTS CORRECT
Gore Racing Club (N.Z.P.A.) GORE, January 27. The statement by the secretary of the Trotting Conference regarding the Gore Racing Club’s programme is commented on by officials of the local club, who deny that the message appearing in the press is inaccurate or misleading. The facts as appearing in that message are correct but brief, and publication in full of all that transpired would strengthen the club’s case. The programme for the February meeting, including one trot, was actually posted to the Trotting Association and the Southland District Committee for approval before the receipt of the circular letter from the Racing Conference referred to by the secretary of the Trotting Conference. The circular merely .stated it was the opinion of the Conference that no alteration should be made to the number of trotting events on racing club’s programmes during the curtailment of racing. The Gore Club felt that the full consideration it had given to the matter and the fact that it was in touch with local and district conditions gave its opinions some weight. The Club spared no effort or expense in the endeavour to have the programme with one trotting event approved by the trotting authorities. Only alter all efforts had failed was a programme of all galloping events drawn up and submitted tu the Southland Committee, not the Minister, and approved. At no tune did the Club receive any instruction from the Racing Conference in the matter, and in fact the Trotting Conference has been informed by the Racing Conference that the dispute is entirely 1 between the Go; e (’tub and Ihri Trot tine Conference.
