BURIED IN COAL
Death Of Gas Company Employee (N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND. Jan. 12. Alan John Matthews, labourer, aged 49. was killed when he was buried by a fall of slack coal at the Auckland Gas Company’s works. Matthews was working in the coal pit when he was caught bv the coal and carried down to the chute. Almost half an hour elapsed before he could be extricated. He was then dead.
