Parcels Received Regularly Advice To Next-Of-Kin (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. Cablegrams from the British Red Cross are reassuring in regard to the supply of food and other parcels to prisoners of war, states the Inquiry Office at Wellington. Reserve stocks at Geneva have enabled the International Red Cross to continue the dispatch of foods parcels throughout the period that steamer services were interrupted owing to the North African campaign. Some Swedish and Danish ships have continued their sailing since early in November and Portuguese ships are recommencing. The British Red Cross also advises that the normal Red Cross steamer service from Lisbon to Marseilles will be resumed. It could be anticipated towards the end of last month. Another cablegram states that as there appears to be a tendency to tighten up restrictions on clothing in many camps in Germany and Italy, next-of-kin are advised to send woollen clothing and comforts in service colours only. Otherwise the garments may be confiscated by the camp authorities. Advice has been received that Ofiag 3C is a new camp established recently for n.c.o.’s. It is at Lubben on the River Spree, almost due north of Dresden. The Inquiry Office has received a number of acknowledgment cards of next-of-kin parcels. An interesting point is that where prisoners have been transferred parcels have been forwarded on. The acknowledgments are mostly from PG 66 and PG 52, the majority received about the end rf July and early in August. The total of prisoners is just over 8000.
