NEW CARGO PLANE
Most Powerful Ever Built (11.25 p.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 9. The Lockheed Corporation’s tripletailed shark - bodied Constellation transport plane, which is capable of flying a light tank witli troops across the ocean, made its first flight at Burbank, California, to-day. Engineers described the Constellation as the swiftest, biggest and most powerful land-based cargo plane ever built. It may outspeed Zeros or any known fourengined bomber. The aerial newcomer, which is fitted with a 2000 horsepower motor, will cruise at 20,000 feet and is able to rise to 35,000 feet.
