WHEN WILL WAR END?
“No Idea,” Says Mr Davis

Asked when he thought the war would end. Mr Elmer Davis, United States War Information Chief, told a press conference: “I have no idea. I saw Admiral Halsey’s most optimistic prediction, but I am unable to find any basis for it.” Mr Davis added that Admiral Halsey’s statement had not been inspired by his department for war propaganda purposes.
