Immense Damage

OTTAWA, January 2.

The worst blizzard since 1903 completely tied up communications in Ottawa and caused immense damage. Telegraph and telephone Winn were brought down and everyone was forced to walk to work because transport was icehound.

Thousands of people are homeless as a result of the Ohio river flooding large parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The damage is estimated at many millions of dollars. Rationing restrictions have been relaxed to assist flood victims.
