Recent Timaru Trotting Meeting Adverse Weather Responsible At a meeting of the committee of the Timaru Trotting Club yesterday the treasurer, Mr A. B. Annand, presented the balance-sheet of the recent meeting showing a loss of £378/12/-. In the circumstances the loss of that sum could be considered reasonable, said Mr Annand. If it had not been for the heavy rain and the inquiry into the performance of Countless, the club would probably have made a profit. Provided that conditions were favourable for the meeting on March 14, he anticipated that the season would be a successful one. Tribute to Club Reporting on the meeting the racecourse inspector, Mr J. Torrance, said that with the exception of one man. who was warned off, the course was clear of legally excluded and other undesirable persons. The New Zealand Trotting Conference notified that the Minister of Internal Affairs had advised that no racing would be held except on Saturdays and public holidays, but it had not yet been decided which holidays would be allocated as racing days. In regard to an inquiry for information required by the Minister, the secretary was instructed to reply that the club intended to race on Saturday, March 14, on its own course. The programme, with stakes totalling £2050, for the forthcoming meeting was approved. The meeting was attended by the president (Mr E. Macdonald), Messrs J. F. Montague, W. A. Piddington, A. B. Annand and R. Caskey.
