NO HOPE OF ESCAPE

Germans Back In Teheran

(Rec. 6.30 p.m.) TEHERAN, Sept. 8. The Germans had apparently abandoned hope of escaping from Iran after several unsuccessful attempts. A party which tried to elude the Russians and cross into Turkey has returned to Teheran. Other Germans who set out for Isfahan, south of Teheran, on foot in an effort to avoid the police were brought back in a car sent by the German Legation, which also sent a car for two Germans who headed for the hills hoping to hold but “until the German army arrives through the Caucasus.”
