NO INFLATION
Australian War Costs
(Rec. 6.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Sept. 9.
The Prime Minister (Mr A. W. Fadden) denied that the Government was contemplating inflation to meet war costs.
War costs, he said, had to be met from Australian resources of men and material. The Government’s plans were based on an appropriate blending of taxation, loans and credit expansion. That policy had not produced inflation in the last two years and the internal stability of the Australian pound would continue to be safeguarded adequately
