FLOATING MINE

Sunk By Rifle Fire

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 8. A floating mine was sunk by rifle fire from the Gisborne sheepfarmers’ motor vessel Margaret W. and the Richardson Company’s motor ship Kopara. about 19 miles outside White Island last Wednesday morning. The mine was reported to be adrift on Sunday, August 31, by the Superintendent of Mercantile Marine.
