HAIRDRESSER TOOK BETS (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 21. Henry Kendall Forward, a hairdresser, appeared before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., in the Ranglora Magistrate’s Court to-day on a charge of using premises as a common gaming house. He pleaded guilty and was fined £25 and costs, In default three months’ Imprisonment. Detective-Serreant J. McClung said that, in company with Detective Knowles, he visited Forward’s shop and found a quantity of betting material. Forward frankly admitted taking bets.
