WOMEN’S DIVISION

OTAIO BRANCH At the May meeting of the Otaio branch of the W.D.F.U., Mrs H. B. S. Johnstone presided over a good attendance of members. It was decided to raise £lO for the Waimate Centre of the Red Cross. It was also decided to forego prizes for competitions for the duration of tne war. As the secretary, Miss Hall, was leaving the district, the president made her a presentation and wished her every success in her future career. The Rev. W. McNeur, and Mr Bowie, also took the opportunity to convey tha. Ss to Miss Hall, and present her with, a gift on behalf of the Flower Show Committee. Miss Hall suitably replied. Members of the Home Guard were guests at afternoon tea. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Forrest and Bowie. The competitions resulted as follows) Best bloom, Mrs Bowie 1, Mrs East 2. Dressed fowl, Mrs Dix 1, Mrs East 2. Head of silver beet, Mrs East 1. Balaclava, Miss J. Fenwick 1, Miss Brunton 2.
