THE CHURCHES

TO-MORROW’S SERVICES At St. Mary’s Parish Church the services will be: Holy Communion at 8 a.m.. Matins at 11 a.m., and Evensong at 6.30 p.m. The preacher in the morning will be the Rev. J. S. H. Perkins, and at Evensong the Vicar, the Ven. H. W. Monaghan. At Chalmers Church the preacher will be the minister. The services at St. Paul’s will be conducted by the Rev. J. Baird. At Trinity Presbyterian Church “Guardians of the Nation’s Homes” is the morning sermon topic, and “./istful Thinking” in the afternoon. This is the first day of the change of the second service to 4 p.m. Services at Woodlands Street will be conducted by the Rev. C. Blair. Mother’s Day Services will be observed at the Congregational Church. The 11 a.m. service will take the nature of a family pew service and in the evening Pastor Browning will speak on the subject “Mother’s Crowning Glory.” Mother’s Day Services will be held at the Baptist Church. The morning service will be a family pew service at which the Rev. A. L. Silcock will take for his sermon subject “Jesus in the Home.” The subject for the evening service will be “The Motherliness of God.”

The services in St. John’s parish are advertised in this issue. Bank Street Methodist Church will hold Mother’s Day Services. In the morning the Timaru Harmonica Band will parade and play “Nearer My God po Thee.” The evening subject will be Returning Home.” Pleasant Point service at 2.30, preacher, Rev. H. C. Orchard.
