MENTAL HEALTH

WJ.A. LECTURE The first of a series of lectures in mental health under the auspices of the W.E.A. was given on Wednesday evening before an audience of about 60 persons. Dr Bevan-Brown, the tutor emphasised the significance of the invasion by science of the sphere of mind and personality, and pointed out that this was both the latest and last of the fields of science. The lecture was Introduced in form and reference was made to the relation between psychological science, mental and nervous illness, to delinquency and to education. The question of the relationship of modern psychological science to religion was discussed. The tutor more than once used the phrase "emotional maturity” with a brief reference to its meaning and indicated that he intended to enlarge upon this in later lectures. At the close of the lecture a number of questions were answered.
