Roadside?, who was a winner at the Reefton meeting, is a four-year-old gelding by Prince Warden. Roadside? was foaled on the roadside and lay in a shingle pit for some days before he was discovered. He has never been seriously trained but has been worked on a metalled road at Totara Flat, and has had very little hard feeding. The Southland District Committee did not uphold the appeal by Mr W. D. McLeod, owner of Islay Downs against the disqualification of that gelding for alleged interference at Riverton. Islay Downs finished first in the Wallace Handicap, but it was alleged that he had interfered with Royal Chorus, and he was disqualified for the race, first place being awarded to* Gnohill.
