HOUSE BOUGHT FOR
REMARKABLE RETURN ON CAPITAL (From Our Own Correspondent J LONDON, October 26. A Bristol man bought three houses for £l—and is getting a magnificent return on his capital. He bought the houses the day they were condemned by Bristol Housing Committee. One cost him 8/6. Now he lets it at a rental of 7/6 a week. He has offered to make Improvements and asked the committee to lift the demolition order. The committee decided the order must stand. But as no houses may be pulled down during the war and Bristol is overcrowded there is no alternative accommodation for the tenants. So the landlord who paid 8/6 for his property can go on drawing 7/6 a week rent for it for the duration.
