TWO MEN FINED
BOOKMAKING CHARGE By Telegraph —Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, November 25. Arrested in the city at 11.30 this morning by Detective-Sergeant J. McClung and Detective C. P. Burns, two Christchurch men, James Frederick Mason, aged 59, and Clarence Arthur Trevella, aged 33, later appeared in the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., when each was charged with carrying on the business of a bookmaker. Both pleaded guilty. Mason was fined £2O and Trevella £25, default being fixed at two months' imprisonment. Mr McClung explained that when arrested both men had in their possession evidence of having taken bets on to-day’s racing. Both were silver bettors.
