GUNNERS SENTENCED
ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE By Telegraph —Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, November 25. Gunners Douglas McKeown, Norman Angas McPherson, and Sydney Morris Price, who were charged with desertion before a court-martial at Battery Point, Lyttelton, on November 1, were found not guilty of desertion but guilty of being absent without leave. Macpherson and Price were sentenced to 28 days’ detention, and McKeown to 14 days' detention. Gunner Daniel John Mclntyre, who had pleaded guilty to a charge of being absent without leave, was also sentenced to 14 days' detention. The sentences have been suspended for three months by the Officer Commanding the Southern Military District (Brigadier H. O. Mead).
