GOOD SERVICE
Substantial Recognition (Special to "The Tlmaru Herald.") DUNEDIN, November 25. Recognition of the service he has given to the club over a long period of years was made at the conclusion of the principal race of the Forbury Park Trotting Club's spring meeting to-day, when Mr B. S. Irwin, who has been president for the last 17 years, was presented with a substantial cheque which had been subscribed by members. The presentation was made by Mr J. McDonald, one of the oldest members of the club, who said it was generally agreed that the time had arrived for them to show in some tangible manner their appreciation of Mr Irwin's services to the club for the last 17 years. Mr McDonald said Mr Irwin had occupied the presidential chair with distinction, and during his term of office he had earned the respect of his fellow members on the committee as well as the members as a whole. Mr Irwin briefly replied, and while deprecating his own services paid a warm tribute to the assistance he had received from the stewards with whom he had been associated since he assumed office.
