Vessel Held Between Two Reefs By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received November 24, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, November 23. The vessel which ran aground at the entrance to Port Philip Bay may become a total loss. The ship is held fast between two reefs and there is five feet of water in her holds. Flagship Leaves Manila After six years in the Far East, Manila farewelled the flagship Augusta when she sailed for San Francisco for overhaul, after which she will join the United States battle fleet at Hawaii. The Houston, which relieves the Augusta, arrived from Honolulu on Tuesday. Chinese Board Freighter A raiding party of the Chinese fourth route army boarded a Japanese freighter on the Yangtse and captured two officers and 10 members of the crew, after which the ship was set on fire and sank. Crops For State The Prime Minister announced that the Australian Government has arranged to acquire the apple and pear crops throughout Australia for the 1940-41 season, for which £3,000,000 is provided. Guarded Explanation A Japanese army spokesman at Shanghai declined specifically to include Australia in the greater East Asia. "It is impossible to define territorial limits scientifically,” he said.
