LA WIN TENNIS A GRADE MATCHES

Play At Maori Park Wins For Wai-iti And Aorangi The first round of the A grade tennis competition was played on Saturday at Maori Park. Although the wind was a trifle disconcerting most of the players soon adapted themselves to the conditions and the standard of play was uniformly high. The game between Wai-iti and St. John's resulted in a win for the former team by 10 sets to six. Aorangi did not have much difficulty in disposing of Highfield by 11 sets to five although the ' Ilighfield women fought valiantly to stem the tide of defeat. C grade matches were also played on club courts. Following are the results of the day's play: A GRADE Wai-iti v. St. John's (Wai-iti names first) Men's singles: S. McWhirter v. P. Durning 8-9, G.
