I AT SHEEP SELL WELL Notwithstanding the fact that there were more than 100 head of fat cattle yarded, good beef sold at values which were up to late rates. The quality -for the mos part was excellent and better than has been the case for some time. Two races of fat sheep were offered to butchers and after a weak opening firmed before many pens were sold. Only a small entry of stores came forward and a moderate sized offering of dairy and store cattle changed hands. Values were: Fat cattle: Steers, best £l7 to £l9/7/6; medium £l4 to £l5/17/6; light £ll/17 6 to £l2/17 '6; heifers, best £l2/2/6 to £l3/7/6; medium £lO to £ll/7/6; light £8 to £9/2/6; cows, best £ll to £l3/7/6; medium £9 to £lO/2/6; light £6/7/6 to £B. Runners to £6/7/6; vealers to £3. Dairy cattle: Springing cows £6 to £10; heifers £6 to £lO/2/6; cows in profit to £B/10/-. Store cattle: Bulls £5 to £9/5/-; 18 months heifers to £4 'l5/-; empty cows to £5/2/6. Store sheep: 2th ewes (medium) 24/4; 2th wethers 18/- to 22/2. Fat sheep: Weathers (shorn), best 34 - to 37/4; medium 31/- to 32/10; light 27/- to 30/-; ewes (in wool), best 35 - to 37/1; medium 31/- to 33 -; light 24/- to 29/-: ewes (shorn), best 24 - to 27/1; medium 20/- to 23,10; light 15/- to 13/10.
