THREE VICTIMS

Success For R.A.F. Fighters British Official Wireless RUGBY, November 19. Three Blenheim bombers of a Coastal Command squadron engaged on a North Sea patrol yesterday, had a most successful encounter with enemy aircraft. One of the enemy, states an Air Ministry bulletin, was a flying-boat, a Dornier 18, which was quickly destroyed. Another engagement was with two Heinkel 115 seaplanes. In this case one Blenheim pilot first met the enemy. He was able to divide the Heinkeis and attacked one head-on, immediately silencing one of its guns. The pilot came so close to the enemy that he had to break off the combat temporarily to avoid a collision. A few moments later he resumed the attack, and pieces began to fall from the Heinkel, which went towards the sea enveloped in smoke. This Heinkel was most probably destroyed. By then the British pilot had expended all his ammunition on the falling German and, defenceless, he went into a cloud when a second Heinkel challenged him. At that moment another Blenheim bomber came on the scene and went straight for the second enemy, bringing him down with a burst of fire from 25 yards.
