ATTACK FEARED

Norwegian Ship’s SOS United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 16. 6.30 p.m.) NEW YORK. August 15. The Norwegian steamer Thermopylae (6655 tons) has sent SOS signals giving her position as 38.25 degrees north, 66.30 degrees west. Evidently she was being attacked by a submarine. The Mackay radio states that the Thermopylae, when she was questioned, asserted that she was not in distress, but was being tracked by a mystery ship. Her position was about 370 miles from New York. The Mackay radio asserts that the ship's first signals were those used by a vessel attacked by a submarine. It is reported from Stockholm that the Swedish steamer Mongolia was sunk by a mine near Keil. The crew were rescued, three being injured.
