representative match South Canterbury Rugby patrons will be treated to football of a high standard at Fraser Park to-day on the occasion of the first representative match of the season, between Canterbury and South Canterbury. In view ■>. the high standard of play in the local competition, particularly in the closing stages, it is confidently anticipated that South Canterbury will fully extend the visitors and play well up to the standard of South Canterbury lepresentative teams of the past. As no previous games have been played there are no grounds for gauging the prowess of the visiting Canterbury team, but with examples in mind of the formidable combinations which have in former years travelled from the northern province, spectators will be assured of a first-class game.
