Temuka Road Board At its last meeting the Temuka Road Board decided to strike a rate of sixpence in the £ upon the rateable property in their district for the period commencing April 1. 1880, and ending on March 31, 1881. to be payable forthwith Bible In Public Schools A meeting was held at Napier last night for the purpose of securing the reading of the Bible in public schools. The Bishop of Waiapa presided. It was resolved to present a petition to Parliament praying that the Bible may be read without note or comment in schools, and a committee was appointed to get the petition signed, which will be forwarded for presentation to the local Members. A counter petition is going to be got up.
