The police dispersed 1500 Communists who. after a meeting in Hyde Park, marched to the French Embassy shouting “Release the French Deputies.” U.S. ACTION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON. April 7. The Dies Committee, which has been inquiring into un-American activities, issued 90 subpoenas, of which 50 are for Communists, including Earl Browder and William Z. Foster, and 40 for members of the German-American Bund, including William D. Pelley. Mr Martin Dies, chairman of the committee, is annoyed at the issue of warrants by a Philadelphia Judge for the arrest of the commtitee’s agents for illegally entering Communist offices. He has demanded new legislation to compel registration of all parties which have an international affiliation. VAST COMMUNIST ORGANISATION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright PARIS. April 6. A few hours after the publication of the death penalty decree on Friday, the police discovered a vast Communist propaganda organisation whose director was arrested, also 18 others described as militant Communists. mostly employed in aeroplane and other factories engaged in national defence work.
