EUCHRE PARTY The first of a series of euche socials organised by the Winchester Library Committee was well attended. The prize-winners were Mrs G. H. Willcocks, Mrs W. Moore. Messrs A. H Cripps and John Cripps. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs J. Horan and Mr C. G. McClelland. WEATHER SUMMARY The rainfall recorded by Mr C. R. Barnett in March was 69 points Rain fell on five days as follows:—March 1. 2 points; 4th, 19 points; 10th, 1 point; 22nd, 1 points; 26th, 37 points; March. 1939, 2.07 inches; rainfall for the first three months of 1940 5.87 inches. TENNIS AND CROQUET The Winchester Tennis and Croquet Clubs closed the season on Saturday afternoon. The Tennis Club held a sealed handicap competition, the winners being Roy Meredith and Mrs Meredith, who beat E. H. M. Turner and Mrs D. A. Pearce 31-26. Turner and Mrs Pearce were the winners of the losers’ section. The Croquet Club’s competitions were won as follows: Clock croquet, Mrs W. J. Moore; golf, Mrs H. Hopkins; hoops, Mrs G. G. South; ball on peg, Mrs Merry. The president, Mr R. Armstrong, thanked all the officers of the club for their assistance and then declared the season closed.
