ORARI BRIDGE

HALL COMMITTEE % At the annual meeting of the Orari Bridge Hall Committee, Mr F. Pratt presided. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, the credit balance being considered satisfactory. The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr F. Pratt; secretary and treasurer. Mr A. South; committee, Mrs F. E. South, Messrs F. E. South and W. Ford. SUCCESSFUL DANCE The committee of the Geraldine Collie Dog Club held a dance in the Orari Bridge Hall. Supper extras were played by Miss Margaret Charles and Mr Allan Donehue. The novelty dances were won as follows: Lucky spot watlz. Miss Margaret Charles and partner; Monte Carlo. Miss Helen Pithie and partner. Mr W. Ford was master of ceremonies. Before the conclusion of the dance Mr J. Acland. president of the Geraldine Collie Dog Club, thanked all.-present for their attendance and everyone who had assisted in making the dance such an outstand’ng success. MARCH WEATHER Rain was recorded on four days only during March, a total of 86 points being recorded as compared with 257 points in 1939. For the three months just ended a total of 594 points has been registered as compared with 425 points for the first three months of 1939. The following is a record of rainfall for March: Ist, 6 pionts; 4th, 13 points; 10th, 13 points; 20th, 54 points. RED CROSS Mrs F. E. South presided at the monthly meeting of the Orari Bridge sub-branch of the Red Cross. Mrs J Reid gave a short account of the experiences of one of the Nursing Sisters who had gone to Egypt with the First Echelon. Further parcels of material and wool were distributed amongst members who were asked to leave goods completed with Mrs Tagg to be handed in to the depot. Final arrangements were made for the dance to raise funds.
