The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times" says the rising trend in Russian imports from the United States since the Finnish war began is revealed in an analysis of the trade figures for December. They are valued at 15,000,000 dollars—more than a quarter of the total of 1939, in which the adverse Russian trade balance was 43.000.000 dollars. The accelerated purchase in 1940 is mainly machinery and manufactured aeroplanes.
