Kathleen Cahalan: A nice newsy letter, Kathleen. It is certainly interesting to have pen-friends in other countries. Yes. I had a holiday by the sea. I hope your pets are all well. Dorothy Hibbs: I was so pleased to get your interesting letter, Dorothy. You must have had a splendid time at the Exhibition. Your school life sounds a very happy one. I hope you will be able to send contributions from school.
Ruth Knox: More merit cards, dear. I was very pleased with your play. It is well written, though the ending is not quite as convincing as the beginning. Write another one—won’t you. I am glad you had such happy holidays.
Olive Cleland: Both your drawing and your poem will be printed, dear. Your merit cards have been posted. Marion Fraser: What lovely Christmas presents you got, Marion. Yes, Santa Claus filled up my stocking too! Give Peter a couple of pats from me!
