LARGE SUM FOR AIRCRAFT
Construction and Upkeep Plan United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received February 8. 11.55 pm.) SYDNEY, February 8. Sir Frederick Stewart, Minister of Supply, announced to-day that the Commonwealth Government will spend £25,000,000 on aircraft construction and maintenance in the next two and a half years. He said that an aircraft commission, probably headed by Mr H. W. Clapp, former chief commissioner of the Victorian Railways, was being set up and the workshops under its control would have to keep 3000 machines In me air. Sir Frederick was unable to disclose the numbers and types of planes being built.
