Miss Dorothy Mac Lean. Sarah Street, has returned from Wanganui. Mrs F. Smith, Waratah, has left on a visit to North Canterbury. Mrs A. D. Jackson, Wal-iti Road, is on a visit to Christchurch. Miss Barbara Firth. Christchurch, Is the guest of Miss Helen Smith, Waratah. Dr. and Mrs F. F. A. Ulrich, Elizabeth Street, and their family, have returned from a visit to Wellington. Miss E. Berry, Deal Street, will leave to-morrow to attend the nurses’ conference at Wellington. Miss Margaret Cotterill, who has been the guest of Mrs G. A. Bridges, Selwyn Street, will return to Christchurch to-morrow. Tire Rev. Alexander Mac Lean and Mrs Mac Lean, who have been visiting Timaru, have left for their home in Wanganui. Mr and Mrs W. N. Bond and Miss Mary Bond, who have been the guests of Miss Elworthy, LeCren’s Terrace, returned to “Dunrobln,” Southland, yesterday. Among guests of honour at the Wellington Travel Club’s reception on Tuesday was Miss Megan Taylor, world champion ice skater. Miss Taylor won the British women’s championship at 11 years of age and later went to Lake Placid as English representative in the Olympic games, coming seventh. When she was 12 she was fourth in world championships in Sweden and was second to Sonja Henie in Norway at the age of 14. Later, she won the coveted world championship title. To-day is to be observed as a Women’s Day of Prayer. This day is observed throughout the world and from at least 52 countries prayer will arise continuously for forty hours, when women of all denominations, nations and colour will take part. The day begins at sunrise in New Zealand and closes near the Arctic Circle. Never has there been such a need of going apart in quietness and confidence for strength to meet the unknown future. All women are cordially invited to attend and take part. Particulars are advertised.
